Dear Kid Saturday – Mommy Bathroom Time

It's Saturday! Time for a Dear Daniel letter

Dear Daniel

It's time for you to allow mommy some private all alone bathroom time. I understand that you like to follow me around to make sure your not missing anything exciting...or eatable. But the bathroom is/has been/and will remain off limits to you until your potty trained...or it's bath time.

Please stop trying to open the door. Please also stop banging on said door when you can't find a way to open it. Most important please stop making a scene until mommy is forced to peak out the bathroom to check that everything is OK.

I hope you will soon understand this is about mommy needing someplace where she is not being "mommy".

Love you always,
Your Umma

Been here, done this. Why is trying to break in on mommy in the bathroom so universal? Good luck with finding that peace and quiet on the john.
Thanks for coming over to MOmformation.
My mom grew up in Brooklyn, St. Charles' Place?

I loved this! Too funny. My 6yo still tries to follow me to the bathroom. My 12yo doesn't seem to think there's anything wrong with talking to me through the bathroom door. I'm not looking forward to the day my 8mo starts following me into the bathroom.
Thanks for stopping by my blog again. I love having you over!

This was hilarious. And sooo mirrors my life. With my precocious 3 year old, I have to wait to do my business in peace during naptime or after bedtime, or I have an energetic bathroom buddy. And if I tell her to watch TV or play in her room until I'm free, I will emerge from the bathroom to find something broken, spilled or in some state of disarray. I can't wait for this phase to pass, although I am sure something else extremely lovely and patience-trying will take its place. Thanks for the post. Found you on MomsofHue. I'm following you now via Blogger and on Twitter. And I love your twitter handle. Anything you can be euphoric about is a blessing. Best!

If I didn't have my door locked my 10 yo son would be in the bathroom with me. A couple times he did come in and talk to me while in the shower. I asked for my towel which he gave me and asked him to leave but he was engrossd in playing with his cars on the sink. It was just about being in the room with me, but I too need my privacy and had to shooo him away.
